I want to be Mayor of Birmingham because I believe in the possibilities of our wonderful community. I also believe I am the only candidate in the race who can provide what the people of Birmingham want and need in a mayor.
Talk to almost anyone in Birmingham, from any walk of life, and you'll hear the same things about the kind of mayor our city needs. People are looking for someone who can stand on their own merits, a person who is politically independent and not beholden to powerful individuals or groups who want to bend city government to their purposes. People want a mayor who will make the tough decisions and take the bold actions necessary to move Birmingham forward.
The citizens of Birmingham also want a mayor who can articulate a vision for the city, and inspire others to share in the realization of that vision. They want a mayor who can communicate, who can coordinate, who can cooperate - who can bring cohesion to the chaos that has prevailed for too long at City Hall. Most of all, the people of this city want a mayor who can rise above petty politics and lead us to greatness.
We can and will have a mayor who will make it his job every day to make people proud to live in Birmingham.
