Patrick Cooper on City Government

Citizens have a right to expect a city government that works for them. The high level of frustration with Birmingham City Hall stems from the failure of our current city leaders to nurture a sense of connection between government and citizens.

As Mayor, I will make city government more 'customer-friendly.' We'll actively seek input from citizens about the quality of city services, and adopt or adjust policies and procedures to reflect what citizens tell us about the job we're doing. We'll also respond to questions and complaints in a timely manner - in other words, if a citizen or business owner complains about a pothole or a broken side walk or a dangerous storm drain, we'll fix it within days, not months.

City government can and will be more responsive and accountable to the citizens of Birmingham.
